25SPR93 Ready for the Leap: Supporting SEN Students with Transition to a New Class or School

25SPR93 Ready for the Leap: Supporting SEN Students with Transition to a New Class or School

The transition to a new class or school can be exciting, but for many students - especially those with additional needs - it can also bring anxiety, uncertainty, and disruption. This practical and engaging webinar is designed to support SNAs, teachers, and educational staff in preparing students for a smooth and positive transition after summer.

We’ll explore the emotional impact of change, why transitions can be particularly challenging for neurodivergent students, and the crucial role adults play in supporting them through this journey. Packed with strategies, visual tools, and real-life examples, this session will leave you feeling confident and equipped to guide your students through their next big leap.

This webinar draws on guidance from the NCSE Relate Programme and the Department of Education’s 'Understanding Behaviours of Concern' document to support SNAs and educators in fostering connection, emotional regulation, and positive transitions for all students.

Learning Objectives:
In this webinar, you will:

  • Understand why transitions can be overwhelming for some students.
  • Explore effective tools like social stories, transition packs, and visual schedules.
  • Learn how to build emotional resilience and reduce anxiety.
  • Discover how SNAs and teachers can collaborate with families and professionals.
  • Receive a resource pack with templates, checklists, and planning ideas.

Whether you're preparing students for a new classroom, a new teacher, or a
whole new school, this webinar will offer fresh insight and supportive strategies to help make the change feel manageable—and even exciting.

Please note that the Zoom link for this webinar will be emailed to you as soon as you register.
