23AUT49 The Resilient Teacher: Approaches from Positive Psychology

"Self-care is not selfish; you cannot serve from an empty vessel."

-Eleanor Brownn

Teaching is a rewarding yet demanding role, so it is vital for teachers to focus on their own well-being and resilience on a personal level.

The field of Positive Psychology (the science of well-being and resilience) can provide teachers with many skills and strategies to help to develop the resilience, in order to feel strong, replenished and equipped to face challenges.

This webinar with Fiona Forman will outline the fields of Positive Psychology and resilience, as well as sharing 8 specific resilience skills which teachers can use to create their own ‘Resilience Tool Kit’.

Participants will:

  • Have the opportunity to reflect on the demands of teaching
  • Develop an understanding of the concept of resilience, from the perspective of Positive Psychology
  • Become aware of 8 resilience skills and be able to use at least 3 of them going forward, in order to nurture their own resilience

This webinar is suitable for all Primary and Post Primary school leaders, teachers and SETs.
