26SPR33 Understanding Autism Through the Lens of Autism and Supporting Autistic Students in the Mainstream Classroom
This two part series of webinars, while operating under the assumption that people already know what autism is, will reexplain this through a neuroaffirmative approach.
In part one, we will highlight the autistic experience through different media to increase attendees understanding of ASD.
Part two will highlight that supporting teens on the Spectrum starts with creating an atmosphere of emotional safety in the classroom. There will be a focus on the mainstream classroom and how applying Universal Design for Learning to deliver the curriculum for students with SEN actually benefits all students. This webinar will include practical tips and tricks from Annette’s personal experience as a person with autism and how she has built strong relationships with students with autism. She will also explain how UDL, and tips that help students with autism, also help a range of other SEN students.
Suitable for Post Primary Teachers
