24AUT83 LL: Special Play? Play and Autism

This webinar will present, in an accessible format, the research relating to play and autism. It will explore the concept of play by getting the participants to reflect on play itself, where play is driven by curiosity, surprise and challenge.
This webinar will be of interest to principals, teachers and SNAs. There will be opportunity to de-bunk myths relating to autistic play and to reform ideas for playful learning. From this webinar participants will gain deeper knowledge of ‘being in play’ where play is repeated and repeated for both thought development (human creativity) and sensorimotor development. Through collaboration and reflection participants will explore how to facilitate meaningful play for all children and especially autistic children.
