23AUT48 Restorative Practices Skills for Promoting Wellbeing in Classrooms and Schools

This face-to-face coursewith Richie Walsh,provides students with knowledge and understanding in Restorative Practices in schools and the local communities by combining theoretical and practical applications in such a manner that ensures that on completion of this course, the students will progress with a set of values and practical skills to enable them to implement Restorative Practices in the classroom, school and beyond.

On successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand and use restorative language (feelings, needs, doable requests), as a means of building and strengthening the teacher’s personal andprofessional relationships
  • Apply Fair Process and the Relationship Window in their teaching practice and the world beyond the classroom
  • Demonstrate competence in the use of restorative circles in schools and the wider community
  • Plan, participate in and facilitate relationship building circles.
  • Demonstrate an in dept knowledge of the theory, methodology and applications for restorative conversations and restorative meetings.
  • Experience facilitating and/or participating in a restorative meeting.

This course is quality certified by the Childhood Development Initiative (C.D.I.) Tallaght. This course has been delivered as a summer course over 20 hours, that is five days of four hours by various Restorative Practices trained facilitators on behalf of CDI Tallaght. This course will be delivered with some minor changes over ten two hours sessions.

Candidates who complete this Restorative Practices course will fulfil one of the criteria for applying for the Training of Trainers Restorative Practices Course, provided by CDI Tallaght.

This course is taking place in Dublin West Education Centre on Thursdays September 28th, October 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, November 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th & Wednesday December 6th 2023. 

This course is suitable for Primary School Leaders, teachers and SETs.
